What is the cost of living in Dallas, Texas?
My wife just went to Dallas to visit her best friend (who just moved there). Of course my wife misses her friend and wants to live close to her.
My wife called all excited about how wonderful Dallas is. She went on and on about her friends “huge… beautiful” house. Her friend is telling her how “cheap” the homes are out there and how the house across the street is only $300,000.
Now my wife and I live in the Los angeles area. Housing is outrageously expensive (we live with family right now) and the homes are small with no yard. So a “huge” house with a “huge” yard for only $300K sounds like amazing deal.
I'm trying to talk reality to my wife. I don't think she understands that the salaries in Texas are going to be lower than that of LA. (I'm a paramedic and doing okay… her friend is telling her paramedics in Texas “make a fortune” which I know isn't true)
What is the reality of living in Dallas? What is the correct price of a house? What is the cost of living?
